Ok, today is the day. Well, tonight is. But you get the idea. Tonight Kathleen Belew and I descend upon Wynkoop Brewery to talk about the most batshit crazy Colorado movie ever: RED DAWN.
You remember it: it’s 1984. The Soviets, Cubans, and…Nicaraguans invade and only Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, and Patrick Swayze’s hair can save us. The movie was written and directed by batshit crazy John Milius, who had his hand in bringing us other hypermacho films like Dirty Harry, Apocalypse Now, Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, and Conan the Middle Aged Accountant.
If you’re in the Denver area, come out at 6pm and be there for what will be an absolute blast. Bring your friends. It’s as much a celebration of this community we’ve built as anything else. And you’re part of it. Hope to see you there.
And if you can’t make it, here is Kathleen’s first appearance on the pod, CON AIR:
I’ll be thinking about this, realizing you’re closer than you’ve ever been and that it’s still a 20 hour drive make me sad. I would love to learn more about this movie, that I talk about all too briefly about when I talk about the Cold War, with such fantastic company. Have a great night, cheers!
