25,000
When I started this pod just shy of a year ago I had no idea what to expect. I just felt that we had to try. Folks, I still have no idea what I am doing. But so many of you believe in this. And that makes me believe in it too. And just around lunchtime today—oddly while I was talking about the future of public history—we crossed over 25,000 downloads.
I’m getting up early Wednesday morning to go to back to Florida for a much needed pilgrammage to Walt Disney World, my favorite place in the world. I don’t know how much I can post from there, but I have a bunch of ideas lined up, as well as a bunch of pods coming soon. So I wanted to say thank you so very much for your continued support and your enthusisasm for the pod. It means the world to me.
One other thing- this podcast does not function without my dear friend Fletcher Powell, who volunteered to produce this show on his own time over a year ago. Fletcher has acted as an advisor, a coach, and has generally made this place run. I cannot thank him enough for his belief in our potential and his personal investments in its future. Thank you, Fletcher. So very much.
Traditionally we release new podcasts on Wednesdays, and you’re still going to get our weekly pod (Napoleon was in fact an emergency podcast), but to give her episode the attention it deserves, we are pushing back Lindsay Chervinsky’s episode of The American President by one day to Thursday, so know that is on the horizon.
In the meantime, you can still check out our episode with Laura O’Brien and Corinne Gressang talking about Napoleon. The episode does not spoil the movie until we say so, so you can absolutely listen in for a primer on French history before seeing the film if you like.
Alright, that’s it for now. Thank you so much for being part of this community.
